here's some of my thought after using iPhone OS 4.0 beta,
1. folder
managed to shrink my 11 pages of app down to 3. even though a single folder only fits 12 apps, i'd rather browse 5 different folder for my games vs going through the pages.
2. new text input area
the new text input area has a red underline on mistype and allow a quick button to undo the suggestion override.
3. multitasking
can't really test it yet, because the apps need to be updated with the new API call. however, by double tapping the home button, you can switch to recently opened app from anywhere real quick.
4. multiple notification
ever missed an important calendar notification because the notification alert was overriden by alarm or sms or any other push-notification enabled app? won't happen again. on OS 4.0 the notification is actually sitting on top of each other, and manually dismissed with your own finger.
5. unified inbox
as said, it's a 'meh' feature for me personally, but it's pretty cool to have.
overall
overall OS 4.0 is amazing, it felt faster and snappier. keep in mind that this is a beta and some of the apps really need update for compatibility issue, namely echofon and IM+, both this app are virtually not usable, it crashes on launch. although brizzly and meebo works smoothly and are not a bad alternatives.
